We are happy to inform you about our recently concluded 7 day long Fund Raiser programme which was held from 29th July to 4th August! We speak about making India literate by 2020. But it has been observed that the girls in rural schools drop out of school, after 7th or 8th standard, because of lack of proper toilets and hygiene facilities. Literacy is our prime concern.... and girls need to be educated. If girls become literate, we will have educated and prosperous citizens and which in turn will lead to prosperity for India and Indians! At the beginning of the year we had decided to support the District Goal for construction of Toilets through WinS (Washroom in Schools). Keeping that in mind we planned a Fund raiser "Kishore Mahotsav - Saat Din Kishoreda Ke Sang". First time in India a 7 day programme was planned to pay tribute to the versatile and great KISHOREDA ..... 7 days...... 7 different Auditoriums.... Spanning across the city of Pune ! The programme was strategically planned to start on 29th of July and to culminate on 4th of August which is the Birth Anniversary of the evergreen singer Kishore Kumar. I am pleased to inform you that we were able to raise a fund of Rupees 5 lakhs through this Fund raiser event and this will be specifically used for WinS (Wash Room in Schools) Program as a support to the call of PM Narendra Modi under the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan” A team of passionate devotees of KISHOREDA sang the immortal songs of the legendary KISHOREDA with an equally talented team of musicians and the programme was well attended by an audience of about 3500 people across 7 days! The programme was also publicized in the Print Media and Radio through advertisements for a week. Our radio partner Radio One also carried the interview of our club President Rtn. Amit Shah, Project Chairman Rtn. Sachin V Shinde, Fund Raiser Chairman Rtn. Lalit Bothara and our very own DGN Rtn. Abhay Gadgil. Thus, through this programme we were able to – 1. Raise funds for WinS. 2. Create awareness in the community about the social issue. 3. Create and boost the public image of Rotary Club of Pune Sarasbaug and Rotary in particular. Amit Shah (President)
